This past week has made me very aware of how blessed I am in life. When the cards are down I can count on family and friends to help me pick up my chin. I had such a wonderful birthday this past week. My Dad and Mom surprised me with a cake and balloons. Friends flocked in from out of town to wish me the best. I received large amounts of phone calls and messages telling me that people were thinking of me. I really felt overwhelmed with love. My only wish is to be able to give back all the love and kindness that I got this past week.
I would really like to send a special thank you to Andrew, Eric and Will for driving out of their way to spend time with me. Andrew and Eric even made me breakfast in bed on thursday in honor of my birthday. I can't express to everyone how great my friends can be. I didn't take very many pictures this past week but I will leave you with one of Will, Mike and myself.
To my family and friends with love,
Joel

Update
Hey everyone!
I am very sorry that I haven't taken the time to write an update on my blog in a few weeks. I am back up in Nashville and am really enjoying it! Mike (my roommate) and I have been staying pretty busy around the apartment. We recently made the investment of Tiki Torches for our back porch. They really do light up the area and also provide defense against the mosquitos that plague the south during warm weather. We are looking for some white christmas lights to add to our atmosphere and a dart board to hang up and provide entertainment.
Work is going very well. Today I helped with a group and we went to the river for a canoeing trip. It was rainy and overcast but I had my fishing pole handy to take care of down time that I knew we would experience. Yes, the fish were biting and I felt like I was in my element. I really do enjoy spending the day on the water and casting a line or two.
I will make another update soon to tell more stories. I wish everyone the best and hope all is going well!
